Email Course–Writing Articles

Announcing: Donna Cunningham’s 5-Lesson Email Course:

Writing Articles for the Web

If You Have Plenty to Say but Can’t Get Going

This Could Be the Breakthrough You Need!

In this short, affordable email course, you receive valuable inside information, one-on-one coaching, and comments on your work by one of the most respected and widely-read authors in astrology, flower essences, and other metaphysical topics. In completing five structured assignments at your own pace, you should be able to move through the process of creating one 750-1000 word article suitable for posting on the web.

If you have a website, the added value of an informational article can bring potential clients.  If you don’t have one, you can begin to establish a presence on the internet by submitting it to an ezine or articles collection.

The tuition of $140 includes 5 packets of reading material, a set of 5 assignments, and Donna’s feedback by email. The reading materials are Donna’s booklet of writing tips, many original articles created for her writing seminars, and a series of Internet Guided Tours in which you’re directed to articles written by experts on internet style, self-promotion through web content, and web visitors’ reading patterns. For sample articles, see the category “Writing Tips” at the side of this blog.

Before starting, you’ll send Donna a sample of 500-1000 words of past writing—even if it’s only a college essay—so she has a sense of what you might need and whether the course is right for you. Here’s a peek at the lessons:

Lesson 1:  Reading materials provided for this lesson help you find a specific focus for your piece by creating a summary statement and outline, which you send to Donna. She returns it with feedback and suggestions for determining what is manageable in a short piece for the internet. Also included are the findings of market researchers on reading habits of web visitors.

Lesson 2:  Reading materials focus on finding your unique slant on your topic, identifying your audience, and how to hook readers with an impactful start for your article. You write about who your audience is, survey internet collections of articles in your field, draft the first few paragraphs of your piece, and send them to Donna for feedback.

Lesson 3:  You’ll learn about significant ways that effective internet writing styles differ from print media, and find ways to break though barriers to self-promotion on the web. Dos and don’ts for working with case examples and testimonials are explored. You’ll learn to use detail to enrich and empower your writing. You’ll continue to expand your article and get feedback from Donna

Lesson 4: It’s time to fine tune by tightening up sentences and paragraphs, polishing the piece until it squeaks.  Make sure the article flows smoothly from a boffo title to an opening that hooks readers, to a logical series of points, all the way to a satisfactory conclusion.  You’ll submit this semifinal version to Donna for suggestions.

Lesson 5:  Reading materials focus on how and where to market your article, how to work with writer’s guidelines, and how to use articles on your web site to increase traffic to your site.  You craft a 100-word bio and send that and the final draft of your article to Donna for a last bit of feedback.

Does this sound like the support and guidance you need to finally get your experience and accumulated observations down in print? Read the sample articles in the Writing Tips category at the side and then write to Donna at moonmave@spiritone.com.
