The Progressed Moon through the 12 Houses

THE PROGRESSED MOON AS A TIMER OR TRIGGER

In the sky the Moon takes about a month to complete a cycle; when seen through progressions, it slows to almost 30 years, taking about 2 ½ years through each house, several months in contact with any natal planet. The progressed Moon is a powerful trigger, setting off slower transits.

WHAT KIND OF PROGRESSIONS TO USE? PROGRESSED HOUSE OR SIGN?

Though there are several kinds of progressions, secondary progressions, based upon the day-for-a –year formula, seem to work best for me, and is the most used among astrologers.

As well, I pay more attention to the HOUSE the progressed Moon is moving through than the SIGN it is moving through. Both are relevant, though the Progressed Moon’s house placement tends to be more obvious and tangible in its manifestation.

For returning clients or personal study, I have enjoyed weaving a story of the progressed Moon’s house, sign and phase, especially the progressed New and Full Moon.

WHAT IS THE INFLUENCE OF THE PROGRESSED MOON?

The Moon, symbolic of our emotional style and needs, when used in progression indicates our evolving emotional style. It focused our attention on the matters of the house is traveling through, and we become more aware of how we feel about those issues. It reveals unconscious and habitual attitudes or expectations that may no longer be useful.

The progressed Moon amplifies our emotional responses, as it makes contact with natal, transiting and sometimes even progressed influences in our charts.

SIGNIFICANT POINTS TO WATCH FOR?

Pay attention to the progressed Moon changing house or sign, often there will be a significant event around the change, amplified even more when the shift is into the 1st, 4th 7th or 10th house, since those cusps are the four angles of the chart.

Transits over a natal planet  bring it into focus, make it more personal.

Progressed New and Full Moons (progression to natal) are initiating or culminating power points in the client’s calendar.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 1ST HOUSE

This is a major shift. You begin a new cycle of emotional evolution. Having cleared away significant emotional baggage in the last couple of years (while the progressed Moon was moving through your 12th house), it is time to respond to life with pure, unencumbered impulsiveness.

Being self-focused helps you push forward. You are more aware of the impression you make, and more courageous about making changes in the way you present yourself to the world. Act upon impulse and intuition to invent a fresh personality.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 2ND HOUSE

You begin to stabilize what you launched in the last couple of years. A more practical instinct emerges, you become more aware of innate abilities and resources. Lack of self-esteem and/or lack of money to follow through dredges up old attitudes of not having or being enough are ready to be updated. Invest in whatever you need to strengthen this new sense of self. Commit; put yourself on the line to bring out your resourcefulness and confidence. Your attitude towards what you deserve is evolving.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 3RD HOUSE

From an increase in confidence let people know about the new you. Your attention focuses upon what you are saying, how you are saying it, and to whom. Important conversations illuminate possibilities, as well as stuck ways of thinking and exchanging information- yours or others. Hunger for answers has you traveling, networking in new places, returning to school, making new friends.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 4TH HOUSE

Major shift. Your emotional antennae turn inward. A very important phase in the progressed Moon’s cycle, when you are more aware of what you need from your emotional life. Most importantly, are you getting/giving yourself good nourishment? Old security blankets need washing or replacing. Review the feng shui of your home; make changes to help you feel more stable.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 5TH HOUSE

From inner review and reconstruction of your personal base of operations you emerge more bold and playful. Search out whatever/whoever warms your heart.  Your inner child wants to be a dramatic presence in your life, you feel less inhibited. Children feature, this is a highly fertile period in your life, literally and metaphorically.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 6TH HOUSE

Your emerging creativity now demands work and effort to make it enduring. Useful, productive skills emerge. Daily rhythms need to change; you are better attuned to which disciplines or schedules suit your constitution. Your stomach/digestion becomes more aligned with your emotional state, and may require dietary adjustments. Plants or animals appear as helpers.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 7TH HOUSE

Major shift. You become more aware of your emotional connections with others. Good time to release old expectations; you review what you require in a relationship. You feel more willing to consider the needs of others and have more energy to collaborate.  Significant alliances appear.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 8TH HOUSE

You become more aware of hidden facets of yourself- especially ones that need attention. You notice where you sabotage yourself. Issues between yourself and others, especially ones involving money and /or power come to a head, requiring confrontation to transform. Sexuality becomes richer and more satisfying.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 9TH HOUSE

A noticeable lightening of emotions occurs, following the intensity of the previous several years. You need to make your world larger, go exploring new inner or outer territories. Search out codes/systems that help you live more fully, especially through travel, studies, and explorations of faith or philosophy.  Question your previous beliefs, they are ready to change to reflect a more mature you

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 10TH HOUSE

Major shift. You focus your attention upon your job or social role. Your ability to accomplish is heightened, aim high. Your public image or job needs some changes. You are more attuned to the mood of the public and can capitalize upon trends. Reconsider what is driving your ambitions.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 11TH HOUSE

You turn on your emotional headlamp to see who’s really there with you. New companions appear, with possibilities you would not have come to alone. Group participation is nourishing, though you may realize you are no longer drawn to people you once cherished.

PROGRESSED MOON THROUGH THE 12TH HOUSE

You long for solitude; you need time alone to review all of your involvements. Your emotional responses are heightened, encouraging you to greater discernment re. who, how and where you focus your attention. You are more intuitive, psychic and aware of underlying subtleties. Emotionally you don’t have the energy to keep up old habits; much needs to be shed in preparation for a fresh start when the progressed Moon again crosses the ascendant into the 1st house.
